Current Superfood Obsession: Maca Powder

As a health crazed foodie- I am always looking for something new to add in my smoothies to make my skin clearer, body stronger, and mind less hazy.

However, during a recent relapse in my very serious addiction to sugar last month, I was having a really hard time staying focussed and my mind felt constantly cluttered. This was especially true every time I would sit down to write. I was becoming a poster child for every college student who claims that they without a doubt have ADHD and not just a godawful diet/lifestyle.

Frantically getting back to my usual health orientated grind a few weeks ago, I decided to mix it up a bit and add something different into my diet. I introduce you to the newest addition to my superfood collection: maca powder. I have a feeling this one is going to be around my house for the long hall, due to the fact that its’ health benefits are endless for all ages.

Maca is a plant found in the mountains of Peru and was used by the Incan empire for the endless amount of benefits that it provides.

What makes maca an Incan superfood is the fact that it is packed with vitamins, minerals, and phytonutrients. It is also naturally known to increase endurance, energy, strength, and libido without disrupting hormone balance.

Maca powder can be added into smoothies, granola, energy bars, and even ice cream.

I started adding this incredible superfood in my morning smoothie, due to the fact that it energizes without the anxious feeling that caffeine can cause. As an avid morning coffee drinker, is this a coincidence or answer to my prayers?

My new yummy maca morning ritual:

Maca Powder Frappe

  • 1 cup Ice
  • 1 cup Almond milk
  • 1 Banana
  • 1 tbs Almond butter
  • 1/2-1 tsp Maca powder
  • 1/8 tsp Cinnamon
  • Dash of nutmeg
  • Optional: Chocolate or vanilla protein powder

I am really impressed with your writing skills as well as with the layout on your blog. Is this a paid theme or did you customize it yourself? Either way keep up the excellent quality writing, it is rare to see a nice blog like this one today..

Hey there would you mind sharing which blog platform you’re working with? I’m going to start my own blog soon but I’m having a tough time selecting between BlogEngine/Wordpress/B2evolution and Drupal. The reason I ask is because your design and style seems different then most blogs and I’m looking for something completely unique. P.S Apologies for getting off-topic but I had to ask!

Hi, i read your blog from time to time and i own a similar one and i was just wondering if you get a lot of spam responses? If so how do you reduce it, any plugin or anything you can advise? I get so much lately it’s driving me crazy so any support is very much appreciated.
