Unless you’ve been living underneath a rock for the last year, I’m sure you all have noticed the current ‘it’ ingredient that’s popping up in supplements, dog treats, recipes, and now skincare products. CBD, different from THC, is a non-psychoactive cannabinoid that’s known to contain healing properties, but completely eliminates the high. So how is this new ingredient literally inhabiting every space in the health and wellness industry?

Just call me Nancy Drew because I fell deep into a CBD skincare vortex on Google looking for the good, the bad, and the ugly facts behind this new ingredient.

As it turns out, CBD or cannabidiol offers antioxidant and anti-inflammatory benefits that are great for skin issues such as dryness, free radical damage, and even inflammation. Studies are also showing success in using CBD to treat eczema and psoriasis as well, due to its ability to reduce sebum in the skin. I feel like all of us have suffered from at least one of these skin concerns at one time or another–which sold me on integrating CBD into my skincare regimen. 

However, in the midst of all my research, I did find that not all skincare products that contain CBD are the same. I found that some companies produce CBD synthetically, which can lead to a lot of unhealthy and unknown additives in the product. I wanted to find a company who took the time to ensure that they used all organically homegrown hemp products rather than isolates or synthetics–which is how I came across Mama’s Farmacy.
